Beginning of a New Story
Maternity and newborn sessions are all about slowing down and preserving some of life’s most meaningful, fleeting moments. My goal is to create images that feel natural, calm, and deeply connected to your growing family. Sessions include a little bit of gentle direction and “look here and smile,” but are mostly centered around soft movement, real connection, and quiet in-between moments.
I guide you throughout the session with calm prompts and natural posing while also allowing space for genuine emotion to unfold. Whether it’s the anticipation of motherhood, the tender first days with your newborn, or the sweet chaos of growing into your new rhythm as a family, I focus on capturing it all in an honest and timeless way.
Newborn sessions are baby-led and unhurried, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and cuddles so your little one stays comfortable and cared for the entire time. Maternity sessions are relaxed and empowering, designed to celebrate this season of strength, beauty, and anticipation in a way that feels true to you.
Sessions are available outdoors, in your home, or in studio, depending on the look and feel you want for your images.

The Beauty of Motherhood & Your Growing Family Story
Your maternity or newborn session can take place wherever feels most meaningful to you during this special season of life. Whether that’s a quiet and cozy in-home newborn session, a peaceful studio setting, a golden hour maternity session along a Lake Michigan beach, or exploring a beautiful Northern Michigan location that feels personal to you, I’ll help you choose a setting that reflects your style and story.
As a Traverse City maternity and newborn photographer, I photograph families throughout Northern Michigan, including locations from Manistee to Petoskey and everywhere in between. During the warmer months, I work with many families visiting or living in Leland, Fishtown, Glen Arbor, Frankfort, Northport, Traverse City, Elk Rapids, and the Torch Lake area. Whether you’re welcoming your first baby or growing your family, this is such a meaningful season to document surrounded by the beauty of Up North Michigan.
Some of my favorite locations for maternity and newborn photography in Traverse City and Northern Michigan include the beaches at Glen Haven, the shoreline near Mission Point Lighthouse, the trails along the Boardman River, and quiet, tucked-away spots along Lake Michigan and Grand Traverse Bay. Newborn sessions are often held in your home or studio for a calm, comfortable experience, while maternity sessions can be beautifully captured outdoors or in a more intimate setting. I’m always happy to recommend locations based on the look and feel you’re dreaming of whether that’s soft dunes, calm water, wooded trails, open fields, or cozy in-home moments.
I specialize in creating relaxed, natural Traverse City maternity and newborn photography with a focus on authentic connection, soft emotion, and timeless imagery. No matter where your session takes place, my goal is to create photographs that feel honest, meaningful, and deeply personal to your growing family.
Frequently Asked Questions

Most full sessions are about 30-60 minutes. Minis are usually 10-15 minutes.
-
For fall and spring? The earlier the better, books are open at the beginning of the year. Don’t wait if you are looking for a specific date.
For other times of year, I usually have more flexibility, but don’t wait too long, especially if you’re hoping to use your photos for something specific.
Galleries typically take 2-3 weeks to receive for full sessions.
-
I keep my eye on the weather leading up to all session. If the weather looks iffy I will send you a text or email. Depending on the forecast, we may shift the time or location to work around the weather. If Mother Nature is against us, we will reschedule for a time and date that works for us both.

I do! Inquire for more information.

There’s no bad or better times, just different vibes.
Spring brings fresh blooms and softer color palettes. Sunset is earlier making it great for beach sessions.
Summer is great for later sunsets, warm temps, and relaxed outdoor sessions.
Fall is busy season but so worth it if you want those iconic autumn colors.
Winter can be incredibly magical especially for cozy sessions or snowy adventures.
Pro Tip: The earlier you book, the more flexibility you’ll have with dates and locations.

Send me a message and I can send you my location guide. We can work together to find the perfect location(s) for your session.

I can! And guess what? You don’t have to look at the camera for the entire session if you don’t want to! That is one of the best things about lifestyle photography, you just forget I am there and focus on loving on your kiddos. This helps you to relax and I promise to make you look great.
-
This is probably the #1 worry parents have, and we totally get it.
Here’s the truth: I don’t expect perfection. I expect real life. I come ready with patience, playfulness, and prompts that keep kids engaged and happy. Some of my favorite photos come from the in-between moment, tickles, hugs, even a pouty face or two.
So take a deep breath. You don’t need perfect behavior. You just need to show up as a family.

All of my clients have full control over if their images are used online, especially on social media. Some clients are happy to have their images shared. Others like to keep their images more private. I am happy to respect your wishes either way. Please just let me know if you want your images kept private so I can make sure to keep your gallery private as well.
Tip: If you don’t share photos of your kid’s faces online but want some photos to share we can take some photos that intentionally hide their faces. This is something many of my clients do.
