Sunset Engagement in Kewadin, MI

After a long day of sunrise-to-sunset sessions, there’s truly no better way to end the evening than with a beautiful engagement session, and that’s exactly how I wrapped up the day with Mikayla and Troy.

We met near Kewadin, Michigan, at a quiet beach spot the couple loves and visits often. It was another chilly and windy Northern Michigan day, but Mikayla and Troy powered through with nothing but positive energy (and a lot of snuggles). The wind may have made it cold, but it also brought some serious magic to their photos.

Mikayla wore a stunning, flowing white dress that caught the wind in the most perfect, dramatic way. We leaned into it, embracing movement, emotion, and the raw beauty of the moment. These two are so sweet together: constantly laughing, wrapped up in each other, and totally in love.

And let’s talk about their gorgeous German Shepherd. I was thrilled when they brought their pup along for the session! I always get excited when couples bring their pets to photo shoots, but especially when it’s a German Shepherd (they have a special place in my heart).

This was my first time shooting at this particular beach in the Torch Lake area near Kewadin, and I can already tell it won’t be my last. Between the sandy shoreline, a peaceful pond nearby, and a soft golden sunset, it felt like the perfect place to celebrate an engagement. We even caught a beautiful reflection shot of the couple in the pond with the sunset behind them.

The session flew by in the best way. We captured everything from running shots and playful spins to romantic lifts, warm kisses, and genuine giggles. Mikayla and Troy brought such great energy to every moment.

Sessions like this are what I love most: real connection, breathtaking scenery, and a couple who’s up for anything (even freezing temps).
